In support of the 22 to Watch Exhibition currently at the Austin Museum of Art, I will be participating in two activities:
- Sept 8 Artist Talk - Remarks about Reminder, with several other artists.
- Sept 18 Family Museum Day - Kid-friendly art building
Austin Chronicle’s review of the 22 to Watch Exhibition entitled 22 to Think About by Rachel Koper is now online. Read it. Then send me an email or comment on this post about the coverage in comparison to your experiences. Have a little taste:
These smarty-pants artists will meet new audiences both in Austin and later on when the work travels to the Dallas Center for Contemporary Art and Galveston Art Center. I think it demonstrates a maturation of the local visual art scene, the depth and complexity of which stands tall in any urban center. These artists, like the reversed signage on the front door of the museum installed by Jason Singleton, beg for your time and your mind. Are you reading the letters? Are you paying attention?

Was the Kosmophone’s conversion of radiation to synth sounds a spiritual experience for you? Are Sterling Allen’s wonderful ‘first draft is the only draft’ drawings promoting a larger paranoia, and what does this paranoia consist of? Oh, and Rachel, you can borrow my smarty-pants anytime.
