I am trying to embed the duality of Abundance in this work. The visual clues such as the 7 inverted harvest cones, which were 3d-printer-manufactured by Blue Genie, are traditional representations of abundance. The contemporary abundance however is one of information, technology and waste. Improvements in manufacturing, materials science (i.e. plastics) and globalized markets have created a system in which this work was able to be realized and the knowledge of these systems is embedded in this piece.

Centralized together into 7 individual person sized “comfort zones”, viewers of the full-size piece would be able to sit within each cone cutting themselves off from other visitors to the gallery. The piece becomes sheltering, individualized but still homogeneous.

The spewing out of material serves as the abundance swallowing up resources of potential shelter. It is an individual’s enjoyment of abundance at the expense of the group’s material available for shelter.
