Quickbooks 2008 company file, Dell computer, Aeron chair, cubicle, computer print-outs, binders, mug, markers, water bottle, thumbtacks
This piece was built around a Quickbooks 2008 company file that shows the largest possible deficit achievable in Quickbooks. -4,358,613,712.60. The computer screen is frozen on this last entry.
The work is set to resemble an accountant’s desk after they have left for the day. During the installation, many of the exhibition visitors didn’t even see it as a piece, thinking instead that it truly was part of the administration of the building.
The work can be considered in many formats: the experience of the work as an installation, the exploration of the data in QuickBooks when using the downloaded file and the myriad print-outs and document reports created by the QuickBooks file that are used both in the exhibition and as additional works unto themselves.
Cubicle graciously provided on loan for the exhibition by the fine folks at Rackspace, The Web Hosting Experts mostly due to the hard work of Adam Robles.
